Kamden Fennewald

University of St. Mary | Volleyball

Volleyball has been a passion that has shaped my high school experience in countless ways. Throughout my four years as a setter and one year as a defensive specialist in club volleyball, I have grown not only as an athlete but also as a person, learning invaluable lessons about teamwork, leadership, and perseverance.

My journey at Butler High School has been marked by significant achievements, including four-time All-Conference honors, four-time Academic All-State recognition, three-time All-District selections, and the honor of being named All-State once. These milestones reflect the dedication and hard work I poured into the sport, always striving to improve and contribute to my team’s success. Along the way, I had the privilege of breaking several school volleyball records, including:

  • Most assists in a match: 52

  • Career assists: 2,800

  • Career digs: 1,286

  • Aces in a season: 70

  • Career Aces: 212

  • Assists in a season: 935

  • Service points in a season: 250

  • Most Career Serving Points: 699

One of my most cherished memories was having the opportunity to play alongside my sister during my freshman year. I looked up to her immensely, both as a player and as a role model. Her guidance and support helped me navigate the challenges of high school volleyball and inspired me to push myself to be the best version of myself, both on and off the court. The bond we shared as teammates made those early years even more special, and I am grateful for the lasting impact she had on my development as a player.

I owe a great deal of gratitude to Coach G, whose unwavering commitment and guidance have been instrumental in shaping my volleyball career since I was 13. Her dedication went far beyond the court, teaching us the importance of teamwork and believing in ourselves. I am also incredibly thankful for my parents, who have been my biggest supporters throughout this journey. Their sacrifices—from countless hours spent at games and tournaments to their constant encouragement—have allowed me to pursue my love for volleyball and achieve my goals.

Finally, I am deeply grateful to my teammates, with whom I have shared countless memories and forged lifelong friendships. Together, we celebrated victories, overcame challenges, and created bonds that will last far beyond our time on the court.
